I have always had a keen interest in sport and exercise since a young age so it was only natural for me to want to work within the industry.
I studied Sport and Exercise Therapy at Leeds Metropolitan University gaining an in depth knowledge of the human body with particular focus on the bio mechanics and functional movement. I worked alongside the head of Sports Medicine at Worcester Warriors providing massage for the players whilst gaining an insight into the importance of exercise for not only rehabilitation but also in prevention of future injury. Something which I place a strong emphasis on in my training with all clients, athletes or not.
Although I thoroughly enjoyed working with athletes my attention later turned to helping others realise the positive effect of exercise and that it can and will be an enjoyable experience.
This came after a friend approached me wanting to lose weight but was a victim of the yo-yo dieting and the dreaded endless long hours spent at the gym with little effect. I began to write her a programme, set small goals and influence the way she saw food and exercise (no rabbit food diets here!).
She is now she is much happier and healthier in herself and has no problem sticking to the plan as it is something she enjoys and had noticed a postive improvement in her body image.
For me, being able to help people in this way brings a huge sense of reward knowing that I have made a positive impact on someone else's life.
I work at Abingdon White Horse Leisure and Tennis Centre but also have my own equipment to be able to provide you with a workout from the comfort of your own home.
