Whatever your reasons for wanting to be healthier, fitter or to be in better shape, you have already taken the first steps to change by being here on this page. After always being fit and healthy I was mortified when my weight started to creep up. I had not realised how big I had become until I saw a photograph of myself. I went through denial at first "that's just a bad angle", followed by low moods. The lower my mood the more I ate. I tried everything, every diet going. I spent years not having my photo taken with my family, this now is heartbreaking for me as when I look back at family holidays I am the one behind the camera. It feels like I never even went. Going back a few years, two life time events happened for me which should have had happy memories. The first, I went for my black belt. I passed 2 out of 3 elements of the exam. I failed the kumite. I was to slow. The second, I had a serious injury after completing the Nottingham Marathon because my weight was to heavy for my joints. I ended up having physio for 9 months. I decided enough was enough. I was through with the excuses! I was through with the tears! I took on a Personal Trainer. He put me through my paces. After a short period of time, I started being fitter and more toned. My weight started to fall off. I felt alive and fit again. I had another go at getting my black belt and passed. I have now run in a lot of events with no injuries. My Personal Trainer encouraged me to do the Diet Exercise and Fitness Diploma and I spent a year on work experience with him to help me to get where I am today. Here to help you!
